[8] Fighting extremism with extreme negligence! Ed Husain’s Distractive Ruse
In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.
Allah [The Exalted] said:
And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet except that when he spoke [or recited], Satan threw into it [some misunderstanding]. But Allah abolishes that which Satan throws in; then Allah makes precise His verses. And Allah is Knowing and Wise; that He (Allah) may make what is thrown in by Shaitan (Satan) a trial for those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy and disbelief) and whose hearts are hardened. And certainly, the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.) are in an opposition far-off (from the truth against Allah’s Messenger and the believers). [Surah Al-Hajj. Ayaat 52-53]
Ed stated, “This renaissance of Muslims in Andalusia, shunned by the East, was fully embraced by two other religious civilizations: Catholicism and Judaism. The Judeo-Christian civilization that is the modern West is rooted in the rational methods of Arabian thinkers, particularly Ibn Rushd. In the universities of Paris, Padua and Oxford, ‘Latin Averroists’ emerged as those who saw, like the ancient Greeks, reason and philosophy can lead us to truth too. The Christian mind was now again open to philosophy in the form of the Scholastics. In Judaism, it was the great rabbi, Musa bin Maimun al-Qurtubi al-Israili (known as Maimonides) who merged Aristotelian philosophy with the Talmud. In our times, the great philosophers of the English-speaking world, Bertrand Russell, Leo Strauss and Roger Scruton acknowledge the Western debt to Arab Muslim civilisations in the West”. In his desperate desire to be noticed by the secularists, Ed the fisher in the murky and contaminated waters of theological rhetoric praises the destructive path of some of the figureheads of misguidance and Kufr, such as Aristotle. However, by Allah’s grace, the scholars and students who adhere to the sound Aqeedah are aware of Aristotle’s destructive path. In a very beneficial article, Shaikh Abu Iyaadh [may Allah preserve him] demonstrates how Aristotle corrupted the nations. He said, “The prominent ancient Greek Philosophers prior to the time of Aristotle (d. 322BC) affirmed the creation of the heavens and the earth and affirmed attributes for Allaah, the Exalted, and they were closer to what is in the revealed Books and what was said by the sent Messengers. The saying of the eternity of matter was propagated and popularized by Aristotle and Aristotle was a major figure whose logic and philosophy was very influential in his time and for many centuries after him. His ideas were instrumental in leading many a nation (who had received revelation) away from the teachings of the Books and Messengers to misguidance in matters pertaining to belief in Allaah and in belief in Monotheism. Jews, Christians, Sabeans were all influenced by Aristotelian Metaphysics in their theology”. Must read full article here!

After reading the article in the above link by Shaikh Abu Iyaadh, it is abundantly evident that Ed is too befuddled to understand the distinction between corrupt and sound creed unless Allah shows him the right way. You may also find the following articles very useful:

Regarding Ibn Rushd, Shaikh Al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “He (Ibn Rushd) responded to al-Ghazaali, but it was a response riddled with errors, and what was correct was with al-Ghazaali. He attributed several of his arguments to Ibn Sina rather than his predecessor (Aristotle), and he blamed the error on Ibn Sina. In several of his arguments, he criticised al-Ghazaali and accused him of lacking fairness because he (Ibn Rushd) based his opinions on corrupt speech”. [Minhaaj as-Sunnah 1/255]
Al-Allaamah Muhammad Amaan Al-Jaami [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “No two persons would disagree that Ibn Rushd had a reputation as a major and dangerous philosopher”. [Al-Aql Wan-Naql Inda Ibn Rushd. Page 16]
Shaikh Ash-Shuyookh Ibn Hamawiyyah [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “When I arrived in the city, I inquired about Ibn Rushd, and it was stated that the Khaleefah Ya’qoob did not allow him to leave his residence, nor was anyone permitted to see him, due to the many strange remarks (views, opinions) that were passed from him and the rejected sciences that were attributed to him. He died in his house in Marrakesh”. [Siyah A‘laam An-Nubala 21/310]

Indeed, only a mistaken, misguided, insane, or arrogant person would strive to spread Aristotle’s and Ibn Rushd’s philosophy in any Muslim country in the name of progress. Saudi King Abdul Azeez [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: “Indeed, the advancement and progress of Muslims is one of the matters we (pursue). We call to it by Allah’s will; but there can be no advancement for Muslims unless they return to their religion, cling to their sound belief, and hold on to the Rope of Allah [i.e. the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah]. The path to this is plain and manifest for those who wish to pursue it, and that is to single out Allah in worship, free from shirk and bidah, and act on what the religion has commanded us because there is no benefit in discourse if it is not (followed) by action”.
