[9] A Brief Look at Pseudo Researchers in Salafiyyah: [Examination of a Fabricated Quietist Faction Within Salafiyyah Called Mad’khalism]
In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.
Samura Bin Jundub [may Allah be pleased with him] said: The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, “I saw (in a dream), two men came to me.” Then the Prophet narrated the story (saying), “They said, ‘The person, the one whose cheek you saw being torn away (from the mouth to the ear) was a liar and used to tell lies and the people would report those lies on his authority till they spread all over the world. So he will be punished like that till the Day of Resurrection”. [(1)]
The deluded researchers Wikipedia stated: “After high-ranking members of Saudi Arabia’s religious establishment denounced the movement in general, and Saudi Grand Mufti and Permanent Committee head Abdul-Azeez ibn Abdullah Aal ash-Shaikh’s criticism of Rabee al-Madkhali specifically, the movement lost its support base within the wider Arab world. The remaining followers of Madkhali within Saudi Arabia tend to be foreign workers of Western origins, Saudis from Rabee al-Madkhali’s hometown, and Kuwaitis and Yemenis. Madkhali also retains a national network of disciples to promote his work and monitor the activities of competitor clerics, and although Madkhalists are outnumbered by followers of Society of the Revival of Islamic Heritage in Kuwait, they retain an extensive international network in the Middle East, Europe and Southeast Asia. Despite losing its audience in its country of origin, the movement had branched outward by the early 2010s, with Madkhalists gaining followers in western Kazakhstan, where the Government of Kazakhstan views them and other Islamists with suspicion. Regardless of these gains, Western analysts have still described the movement as now being relegated to a primarily European phenomenon. Analysts have estimated that Madkhalists and their allies comprise just over half of the Salafist movement in the Netherlands”. [End of quote]
Response to their statement: “After high-ranking members of Saudi Arabia’s religious establishment denounced the movement in general, and Saudi Grand Mufti and Permanent Committee head Abdul-Azeez ibn Abdullaah Aal Ash-Shaikh’s criticism of Rabee al-Madkhali specifically, the movement lost its support base within the wider Arab world”. [End of quote]
First, which high-ranking Saudi Arabian religious figures specifically condemned the fictitious Mad’khalism movement in general, and what specifically did they say about it?! What are the precise objections of Al-Allaamah Abdul Azeez Aal Shaikh [may Allah preserve him] of Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali [may Allah preserve him], the substance of the criticism, and its unequivocal knowledge-based conclusion? Indeed, these assertion serves no purpose because it fails to establish and distinguish between truth and falsehood, and it remains as such until the cretins at Wikipedia state exactly what was said and then it is evaluated based on sound Salafi principles. Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “It is incumbent upon you to provide details and differentiation because unrestricted and general (statements) without clarity have corrupted this existence (i.e. the world) and misguided the intellects and viewpoints (of the people) in every era”. Al-Allaamah Saalih Al-Fawzaan [may Allah preserve him] commented as follows, “There has to be a thorough explanation. The person who is not skilled at providing information should remain silent because his discourse provides no benefit. And every time an error occurs, it is caused by a lack of a clear explanation of truth and falsehood. There must be a thorough explanation and distinction, with no confusion. Indeed, an opponent’s speech may contain both truth and falsehood, therefore it is not deemed entirely false or true, however, there must be a distinction between its truth and falsehood. All of it is neither rejected nor accepted; rather, a distinction is established between the truth and what is correct and the falsehood and error in it. And if you are not skilled at providing details, you should not engage in this field”. (2)
Al-Allaamah Saalih al-Fawzaan [may Allah preserve him] was asked: “What is the meaning of the principle, ‘The truth is not known by way of men, rather men are known by way of the truth?'” Response: It means that we do not simply blindly follow anyone, because one may be blindly followed based on inaccuracy. It is possible that the Mujtahid is erroneous, therefore we do not take (his statement, opinion, etc.) and say, “This is the statement of such and such; this is truth because such and such is good, he is a scholar; such and such is Taqiy (i.e. one who fears Allah). We do not say this since he is not infallible and can make mistakes; thus, we know men by the truth – those who know, adhere to the proofs, and are known to be scholars. Those who are unconcerned about proofs are not scholars; they are not people of (sound) understanding and knowledge, hence their statements are never taken at face value. It is imperative that the proof is presented, so, if the evidence is established as a witness to (what he says or believes, etc.), then it is the truth; however, if he opposes the evidence, then it (i.e. his says) is rejected. If he is a Mujtahid and he is mistaken, he is rewarded (once) due to his Ijtihaad; however, if he consciously holds on to error, he has sinned. (3)
Therefore, every claim must be established and analysed based on solid Salafi principles, and only what is established based on sound knowledge-based proofs is given consideration, whether the subject matter is related to Aqeedah, acts of worship, methodology, criticism, or praise.
And regarding their view that the so-called Mad’khalis lost support in Saudi Arabia, this claim is based on delusion because the group does not exist. However, even if the majority were to reject or oppose an upright caller to Islam, that is not a measure of right and wrong; rather, the only thing taken into account is the truth. Al-Allaamah Saalih Al-Fawzaan [may Allah preserve him] said: Allah [The Most High] says:
قُلۡ هَـٰذِهِۦ سَبِيلِىٓ أَدۡعُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۚ عَلَىٰ بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَا۟ وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَنِىۖ وَسُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أَنَا۟ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
Say (O Muhammad): “This is my way; I invite unto Allah (i.e. to the Oneness of Allah – Islamic Monotheism) with sure knowledge, I and whosoever follows me (also must invite others to Allah i.e. to the Oneness of Allah – Islamic Monotheism) with sure knowledge. And Glorified and Exalted be Allah (above all that they associate as partners with Him). And I am not of the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah; those who worship others along with Allah or set up rivals or partners to Allah).”
[أَدۡعُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۚ – I invite unto Allah (i.e. to the Oneness of Allah – Islamic Monotheism)]. This part of the Ayah contains a notification regarding sincerity because some people call to themselves. It may be that a person propagates, and delivers lectures and sermons, but his aim is to become apparent to the people – to receive some status, be praised by the people, and that people gather and become numerous around him. If this is his aim, he is not one who calls to Allah; rather he is a caller to himself. The person who abandons Dawah has indeed abandoned a great obligation and the person who is not sincere in Dawah has indeed fallen into great danger because Dawah has to be carried out sincerely for the Sake of Allah and the aim should be to establish Allah’s Shariah – to guide and benefit the people, whether you are praised or rebuked. As for some people, when they are not praised and promoted, they abandon Dawah. This is proof that such a caller is not a caller to Allah, rather he only calls to himself. Therefore, the Muslim should be warned that his aim in dawah should be sincerity, to benefit the people, free them from Shirk and bidah, free them from those affairs that are in opposition to the Shariah, and fulfill what is obligated to him.
A great number of people around a person is not proof that such a person is virtuous, because some of the Prophets were only followed by a few people. “A Prophet will come on the day of judgement with a few followers and a Prophet will come with no followers”. [Bukhaari 5705]. So, does this mean that such a Prophet is not virtuous? No, definitely not! A person does not look at the large number of people who are present, because the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said to Ali, “If Allaah gives guidance to a single man through you, it is better for you than possessing red camels”. [Bukhaari 3009] (4)
The Shaikh [may Allah preserve him] also stated: Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ah are not harmed by those who oppose them. If you are with them- all praise is due to Allah, they are pleased with this because indeed they want good for the people. If you oppose them, you cannot harm them and due to this the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him]said, “There will not cease to be a group of my Ummah who will be manifest upon the truth- not harmed by those who forsake them until the command of Allah comes to pass (i.e. the day of judgement) whilst they are (still) upon that (truth)”. The one in opposition does not harm except himself. What is given consideration is not the great numbers; rather what is given consideration is to be in agreement with the truth, even if a small number of people were upon it. And even if in some eras there is only one person (upon truth), then he is the one upon truth and he is the Jamaa’ah. The Jamaa’ah does not necessitate great numbers; rather the Jamaa’ah is what is in agreement with the truth – in agreement with the Book and the Sunnah, even if those upon it are few. However, if many come together and (upon) truth, then – all praise is due to Allaah- this is strength. But if the majority oppose it (i.e. the truth), then we side with the truth even if only a few are upon it. (5)
The liars stated: “The remaining followers of Madkhali within Saudi Arabia tend to be foreign workers of Western origins, Saudis from Rabee al-Madkhali’s hometown, and Kuwaitis and Yemenis. Madkhali also retains a national network of disciples to promote his work and monitor the activities of competitor clerics, and although Madkhalists are outnumbered by followers of the Society of the Revival of Islamic Heritage in Kuwait, they retain an extensive international network in the Middle East, Europe, and Southeast Asia”. [End of quote]
They spoke here regarding the leader, followers, clerics, and networks of the so-called Mad’khalis, and then differentiated them from Al-Ihyaa Ath-Turaath (The Revival of Islamic Heritage) in Kuwait. Indeed, by identifying Al-Ihyaa Ath-Turaath as a different group, they spoke the truth (Footnote a), but they spoke lies when they invented the Mad’khalis group. The purpose of this falsehood is to convince uninformed Muslims that there are various strains within Salafiyah, each of which pursues its own agenda in the name of Islam, and allows dubious individuals and false claimants to Salafiyyah to blend in with the Salafiyyoon in order to further their own objectives. This sinister plot has been exposed by many prominent Salafi Scholars and students of knowledge, but Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali in particular pays special attention to it in some of his books. The Shaikh says, “Where did the Ikhwaan Al-Muslimeen and the Qutubiyyoon (Footnote b) get these ideas in this country [Saudi Arabia]? What inspired Juhaymaan’s thoughts as well as those of Abdur Rahmaan Abdul Khaaliq, Al-Haddad, Al-Maghraawi, and Abul Hasan Al-Maribi? They are all extensions of Ikhwaan Al-Muslimeen’s ideas. All of them, from Juhaymaan’s Fitna to the present, are the tail ends of Ikhwaan Al-Muslimeen’s Fitna, whose principal goal is to topple the scholars. They do, however, don a variety of garb and outward manifestations; they go by the names Al-Ikhwaan, At-Tasawwuf, and As-Salafiyyah at various times. The most dangerous one (used as cover) is the term As-Salafiyyah because they are unable to confront the Salafi Methodology with the terms At-Tab’leegh and Al-Ikhwaan, so they hide this charade with the term As-Salafiyyah and then challenge the (upright Salafi) scholars”. (6)
Al-Allaamah Rabee (may Allah preserve him) is hated by infiltrators and deviants for the reasons that are explained in the articles below by Shaikh Abu Iyaad and Shaikh Abu Khadeejah (may Allah preserve them).

The liars stated: “Despite losing its audience in its country of origin, the movement had branched outward by the early 2010s, with Madkhalists gaining followers in western Kazakhstan, where the Government of Kazakhstan views them and other Islamists with suspicion. Regardless of these gains, Western analysts have still described the movement as now being relegated to a primarily European phenomenon. Analysts have estimated that Madkhalists and their allies comprise just over half of the Salafist movement in the Netherlands”. [End of quote]
First, they concocted the Mad’khalis strain within Salafiyyah and have even gone so far as to call it a “Movement”. The reason pseudo-researchers refer to it as a movement is because one of the characteristics of movements is that they can all share some basic unique characteristics, however, things don’t just happen with one leader or in one location; instead, things may appear differently in different locations, but they share some similar values. This is not Salafiyyah because one is not judged to be a true follower of the Sunnah merely on one or a few characteristics. Al-Allaamah Rabee bin Haadi al-Mad’khali [may Allah preserve him] said: “”Every sect of ahlul bidah gathers between truth and falsehood; denies the truth that the other sect of bidah possesses and believes in the falsehood that they possess. Shaikh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allaah have mercy on him] said: Allah said: [ وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمۡ ءَامِنُواْ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ قَالُواْ نُؤۡمِنُ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيۡنَا وَيَكۡفُرُونَ بِمَا وَرَآءَهُ ۥ وَهُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ مُصَدِّقً۬ا لِّمَا مَعَهُمۡ – And when it is said to them (the Jews), “Believe in what Allah has sent down,” they say, “We believe in what was sent down to us.” And they disbelieve in that which came after it, while it is the truth confirming what is with them]. [Surah Al-Baqarah Aayah 91]
This is because they initiate an innovation in religion (i.e. beliefs, acts of worship, or methodology), combine it with what the Messengers brought, split their religion, and become sects, so there is truth and falsehood within each of them. They reject the truth of the other group and believe in the falsehood with them. This is the situation of all the people of Bidah, for there is truth and falsehood among them, thus they split their religion and became sects. Every sect, such as the Khawaarij and Shia, denies the truth of the other sect and believes in the falsehood with them. (7)
Therefore, one is not judged to be a true follower of the Sunnah merely on one or a few characteristics, as Imaam Al-Barbahaaree [may Allah have mercy upon him] also stated: “It is not permitted for a man to say, ‘So and so is a person of the sunnah’ until he knows that he combines the characteristics of the Sunnah, so it is not said of him, ‘a person of the Sunnah’ until he combines all the Sunnah”. Al-Allaamah Saalih Al-Fawzaan [may Allah preserve him] commented on the above statement of Imaam Barbahaaree saying: “Do not give a person a recommendation and praise unless it is founded on knowledge, lest people be misled by your praise of him, because he is not what (you have asserted about him). So, when his real affair and the path he follows are evident to you, his knowledge and steadfastness, you can recommend him. As for praising and giving recommendations without knowing anything about him, is a dangerous recommendation that will lead to people being deceived by this person. The characteristics of the Sunnah include creed, knowledge, and adherence to the (path of) pious predecessors; but if there is nothing in him but a single characteristic, he is not regarded to be from Ahlus Sunnah on the basis of a single characteristic or one thing, so what about the one who has nothing from that? (8)
The Messenger of Allah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, “Indeed, the one who lives long amongst you will see a lot of differences, and beware of newly invented matters [in the religion] because it is misguidance. So whoever amongst you reaches that, then upon him to hold onto to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided khulafaa, and bite onto it with the molar teeth”. (9) Imaam Ibn Ibn Rajab [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: “In this hadeeth is the command that when splitting and differing occurs, (one must) adhere to the Sunnah of the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] and the Sunnah of the khulafaa [AbuBakr, Umar, Uthmaan and Ali (may Allah be pleased with them)] after him. The Sunnah is a path that should be adhered to and it includes that which the rightly guided khulafaa were upon in creed, practice, and statements. This is the complete Sunnah”. (10)
Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud [may Allah be pleased with him] said: Whoever wants to adhere to a path, then let him adhere to the path of those who have passed away, for indeed the ones who are alive are not safe from trial, and they (i.e. those who have passed away) are Muhammad’s Companions. They were the best of this Ummah, the ones with the most righteous hearts, the most perfect in knowledge, and the most uncomplicated. Allah selected them to accompany His Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] and to establish His religion. Therefore, acknowledge their status, follow their footsteps, and cling as much as you can to their pattern of behaviour and attitude because they followed true guidance. (11)
This particular distinction enrages the infiltrators and pseudo-researchers since they waste their time trying to misrepresent Salafiyyah just to learn that the Mujaddidoon Salafi scholars have already refuted them. The Prophet [peace and blessings be upon him] said, “Allah will raise for this Ummah at the end of every hundred years the one who will revive its religion for it”. (12) “Allah will raise for this Ummah at the end of every hundred years” – Meaning, at the end of every hundred years when there is little knowledge of the Shariah and the authentic Prophetic Tradition, whilst ignorance and Bidah are rife; “One who will revive its religion for it”– Meaning, a scholar who is alive and well known. He will clarify the authentic Prophetic Tradition and distinguish it from Bidah. knowledge will be abundant again and its adherents will be aided, and the proponents of Bidah will be overcome and degraded. This reviver is none else but a scholar who has a sound understanding of the religious sciences that deal with acts of worship, the underlying wisdom of the religion, and the texts that deal with beliefs of the heart. (13)
The liars stated: “Regardless of these gains, Western analysts have still described the movement as now being relegated to a primarily European phenomenon. Analysts have estimated that Madkhalists and their allies comprise just over half of the Salafist movement in the Netherlands”. [End of quote]
As for those they refer to as Mad’kalis in the UK, they are referring to the Salafiyyoon, who challenge their Bidah and expose all their figureheads of Bidah- our elder teachers at Salafipublications and elsewhere. Finally, in regard to their claim that there is Mad’khalism in Kazakhstan, it is important to remember once again that no group, strain, or movement known as Mad’khalis exists within Salafiyyah anywhere on the earth, including Kazakhstan nor does Salafiyyah have different orientations. If the cretins desist, then may the curse of Allah be upon the liars!
NB: One cannot properly comprehend these affairs unless he or she visits this website http://www.salafis.com/index.cfm as well as reads this remarkable series by the seasoned elder student of knowledge Shaikh Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq [may Allah protect him and his family from all evil Aameen].
