In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah [The Exalted] said:
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَكُونُوا۟ مَعَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
O you who believe! Fear Allah, and be with those who are true (in statements and deeds). [9:119]

Indeed, it is evident that millions of individuals and many nations openly denounce the heinous acts committed by the Zionists, and this commendable stance deserves recognition. Nevertheless, it is crucial to avoid exaggeration and making assertions that contradict the infallible final divine revelation, as exemplified by the recent remarks made by the Bid’ee Yasir Qadhi regarding the followers of modern Judaism. He stated, “They are the real followers of Mosses! They are the ones who make the Children of Israel proud”. [End of quote]

Indeed, it is crucial to maintain the only balanced approach that agrees with the infallible divine text to avoid exaggeration and to give proper recognition to what truly deserves acknowledgment. Firstly, Shaikh Abu Iyaadh [may Allah preserve him] stated in his discussion regarding the connection between Zionism and Judaism: “However, it is important to note that not all Jews are involved in these intrigues and the Jews as a population have, throughout history, been subject to the whims and desires of their religious and political leaders, and have been made to undergo much persecution as a result. Also, there are many religious Jews who denounce Zionism as heresy in religion and cause of calamities for them and for Palestinians. Just as there are religious Jews who reject liberal and woke ideas used to disintegrate family and society. Hence, it is not correct to brush all Jews with the same brush, just as it is not correct to paint all Muslims with the brush of al-Ikhwān, Ḥizb al-Taḥrīr, al-Qaeda, ISIS and other extremists and terrorists”. Secondly, we now present the undeniable truth concerning the people of the Scripture after the advent of of the final Prophet Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him].

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allah have mercy upon him] stated:

Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] himself called the Christians and Jews to believe in him and in that which he brought, just as he also called the Arabs- who had no scripture- and all the other nations. He [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] related from Allah [The Exalted] that those amongst the people of the scripture and other than them are unbelievers if they do not believe in him and that their abode will be the fire – an evil destination. As for the Jews, they were his neighbours in the Arabian peninsula- at Madeenah and its surrounding areas, and Khyber. Indeed, the Muhaajiroon and the Ansaar believed in him without fighting; rather the signs of Prophethood and the proofs of his truthfulness were manifested to them so they believed in him. Many of those who believed in him were harmed and this is well known in the Seerah. Many Jews and Christians believed in him during his lifetime- some in Makkah and some in Madeenah, and many others were neither from Makkah nor Madeenah.

As for the Christians, then indeed the people of Najraan – from Yemen – came to debate with him [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] in his Masjid, so Allah revealed Surah Al Imraan regarding them. And when his proofs became manifest and it became clear to them that he was a Messenger of Allah sent to them, Allah commanded him that if they did not respond to his call, then he should call them for MUBAAHALAH [Footnote a] [i.e. invoke the curse of Allah on the liars]. Allah [The Exalted] says:

فَمَنۡ حَآجَّكَ فِيهِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ فَقُلۡ تَعَالَوۡاْ نَدۡعُ أَبۡنَآءَنَا وَأَبۡنَآءَكُمۡ وَنِسَآءَنَا وَنِسَآءَكُمۡ وَأَنفُسَنَا وَأَنفُسَكُمۡ ثُمَّ نَبۡتَہِلۡ فَنَجۡعَل لَّعۡنَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَى ٱلۡڪَـٰذِبِينَ

Then whoever disputes with you concerning him [‘Iesa (Jesus)] after (all this) knowledge that has come to you, [i.e. ‘Iesa (Jesus)] being a slave of Allah, and having no share in Divinity) say: (O Muhammad) “Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women, and your women, ourselves and yourselves thenۡ weۡ prayۡ andۡ invokeۡ (sincerely)ۡ theۡ Curseۡ ofۡ Allahۡ uponۡ thoseۡ –who lie.”]SurahۡAalۡImraan. Footnote a: MUBAAHALAH: Al-Haafidh Ibn Hajr [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “There is a benefit in the story of the people of Najraan, and in it is that Mubaahalah is legislated against the opposer when he persists upon [falsehood] after the proofs have been manifested. Indeed, Ibn Abbaas [radiyallaahu-anhumaa] did call to it, then Al-Awzaa’ee [rahimahullaah] and some of the scholars. And that which is well known from experience is that the affair of one who performs Mubaahalah – whilst he is one upon falsehood – does not extend beyond the year of the Mubaahalah. This occurred between me and a person who was fanatically supporting some of the heretics and after two months he could not stand up”. [An Excerpt from ‘Fat-hul Baari’ 12/195. Slightly paraphrased]

Imaam Al-Albaanee [may Allah have mercy upon him] was asked about the ruling on MUBAAHALAH in relation to worldly matters: Question: The hadith regarding the Najran delegation is well known when they came to the Messenger of Allah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], and then Allah revealed:

Then whoever disputes with you concerning him [‘Iesa (Jesus)] after (all this) knowledge that has come to you, [i.e. ‘Iesa (Jesus)] being a slave of Allah, and having no share in Divinity) say: (O Muhammad) “Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves – then we pray and invoke (sincerely) the Curse of Allah upon those who lie.” [Surah Aal Imraan. Aayah 61]

So he called them to MUBAAHALAH, but they refused. It is well known to us that MUBAAHALAH is not to be done except in issues related to Aqeedah, but some people amongst the Muslims suggest this ruling in worldly affairs between him and his Muslim brother; meaning, if my Muslim brother owes me money but denies it, then would it be permissible to suggest this ruling between me and my Muslim brother?

Answer: May Allaah bless you. The answer to this question is that it is not permissible to suggest this in such a situation or suggest this Shariah ruling about material issues due to two reasons: Firstly, because this story is related to issues of Aqeedah as you have stated today. Secondly, as for the material issues, then Islaam has legislated a system and principles for it. He [i.e. the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)] said, “The burden of proof is on the claimant and an oath is a duty upon the one who denies the claim”. So, there is no room for Mubaahalah in this affair, which Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] legislated in that affair between His Messenger [peace and blessing of Allaah be upon him] and those Christians of the Najran who denied true Islamic Monotheism and persisted on the Trinity. So, this affair is not suggested in another issue besides this because neither is there a narration of the pious predecessors nor a hadeeth regarding it. However, if it must be done, then it can be suggested when two groups of Muslims differ in some ideas or Aqeedah- for example between the Mutazilah and Ahlus Sunnah. It is possible that if some Mu’tazilee is haughty after discussion and after evidences has been presented, then the Sunnee seeks Mubaahalah from him – that may the curse of Allaah be upon the liars. Therefore, it is possible to suggest this in such an affair. But as for the question with regards to suggesting this affair in issues related to material disputes, then this is not permissible. The Importance of Identifying The Sound Creed

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allah have mercy upon him] stated

This is the most crucial topic in life because it impacts everything depending on its soundness, corruption, or absence. Indeed, humankind split into many religious groups and pursued different paths in terms of beliefs. All of these paths are distorted, crooked, harmful, and unbeneficial, except for those who are led to the true religion of Islam since such individuals will achieve uprightness, goodness, and peace of mind in every way.

Among the people are those who have been influenced by Shaytaan, so they worship things other than Allah, such as trees, stones, images, prophets, angels, the righteous and the unrighteous, while acknowledging that Allah alone is their Lord, Owner, and Creator. These are the polytheists of various groups and methodologies that accept the Oneness of Allah’s Lordship but they deviate from worshipping Him alone. Indeed, the (uncorrupted) divine books of the past and their seal (i.e. the Qur’an) demonstrate the wretchedness of these people and the path that leads them to destruction. All the Messengers agreed on the command to (establish) pure monotheism and forbid polytheism, and that anybody who ascribes a partner with Allah in worship will be barred from entering paradise permanently (if they do not repent before death), and their abode will be the fire. Sound minds and sound natural disposition would view polytheism, the deification of other than Allah, and devotion to created things and objects made by people (for the sake of worship) to be corrupt.

And among the people are those who believe in some of the Messengers and divine Books but not in others, despite the fact that the Messengers and divine Books affirmed each other’s truthfulness, agreed with each other, and agreed on fundamental principles. As a result, their denial invalidated their belief, and their acknowledgment of some Prophets and divine books was rendered invalid by their denial of other Prophets and divine books; thus, they remained in deviation in their religion, befuddled in their faith, and in a state of contradiction in their knowledge. Allah [The Exalted] said:

إن الذين يكفرون بالله ورسله ويريدون أن يفرقوا بين الله ورسله ويقولون نؤمن ببعض ونكفر ببعض ويريدون أن يتخذوا بين ذلك سبيلا أولئك هم الكافرون حقا

Verily, those who disbelieve in Allah and His Messengers and wish to make a distinction between Allah and His Messengers (by believing in Allah and disbelieving in His Messengers) saying, “We believe in some but reject others,” and wish to adopt a way in between. They are in truth disbelievers. [Surah An-Nisaa. Ayaat 150-151]

The reason Allah pronounced a judgement of unbelief against them is that He is aware that their claim to belief was false; if it had been sincere, they would have believed all the facts that the Messengers had agreed to. Allah said that they stated:

نؤمن بما أنزل علينا ويكفرون بما وراءه وهو الحق مصدقا لما معهم

“We believe in what was sent down to us”. And they disbelieve in that which came after it, while it is the truth confirming what is with them]. [Surah Al-Baqarah. Aayah 91]

Since their claim of faith is false, Allah declared the following concerning them:

فلم تقتلون أنبياء الله من قبل إن كنتم مؤمنين

Why then have you killed the Prophets of Allah aforetime, if you indeed have been believers?

There is a group among the people who ascribe to the (knowledge) of philosophy and metaphysics; they then introduced the greatest misguidance and ridiculous statements, denied the Great Lord (Allah) and His existence, and so denied the Messengers, the divine books, and matters of the unseen. They wrongly, arrogantly, and owing to self-exaltation denied Allah’s Ayaat [lessons, proofs, revelations], although being convinced within their own souls about them; and denied the Messengers’ knowledge and what the divine scriptures advised, and arrogantly turned away from them because of what they knew about natural sciences and the affairs associated with them. In contrast to the knowledge of the Prophets, they denied all other realities outside what they could perceive through their senses and limited, restricted experiences, so they worshipped nature, made it their primary preoccupation, and the totality of their knowledge, went beyond what their (innate) natural dispositions dictated and did not adhere to any divine religious laws or (sound) human morals. As a result, animals became better than them since they were bereft of (sound) morality and urged towards animalistic desires – neither had a real goal to strive for or outcomes to achieve. Allah said:

وقالوا ما هي إلا حياتنا الدنيا نموت ونحيا وما يهلكنا إلا الدهر

And they say: “There is nothing but our life of this world, we die and we live and nothing destroys us except Ad-Dahr (the time).] [Surah Al-Jaathiyah. Ayah 24]

Thus, despite their polytheism and disbelief, the polytheists became better and considerably less evil than these individuals. Furthermore, due to religious weakness and lack of understanding, as well as when powerful nations built traps to encourage it, this detrimental school of thought has destroyed a vast number of people in recent times.

The Islamic religion, on the other hand, guided people out of the darkness of ignorance, disbelief, injustice, aggressiveness, and other ills and into the light of knowledge, (sound) faith, certainty, justice, mercy, and all good things. Allah said:

لقد من الله على المؤمنين إذ بعث فيهم رسولا من أنفسهم يتلو عليهم آياته ويزكيهم ويعلمهم الكتاب والحكمة وإن كانوا من قبل لفي ضلال مبين

Indeed Allah conferred a great favour on the believers when He sent among them a Messenger (Muhammad) from among themselves, reciting unto them His Verses (the Qur’an), and purifying them (from sins by their following him), and instructing them (in) the Book (the Qur’an) and Al-Hikmah [the wisdom and the Sunnah of the Prophet (i.e. his legal ways, statements, acts of worship, etc.)], while before that they had been in manifest error. [Surah Aal Imran. Ayah 164]

Allah said:
إن الله يأمر بالعدل والإحسان وإيتاء ذي القربى وينهى عن الفحشاء والمنكر والبغي يعظكم لعلكم تذكرون

Verily, Allah enjoins Al-Adl (i.e. justice and worshipping none but Allah Alone – Islamic Monotheism) and Al-Ihsan [i.e. to be patient in performing your duties to Allah, totally for Allah’s sake and in accordance with the Sunnah (legal ways) of the Prophet in a perfect manner], and giving (help) to kith and kin (i.e. all that Allah has ordered you to give them e.g., wealth, visiting, looking after them, or any other kind of help, etc.): and forbids Al-Fahsha’ (i.e all evil deeds, e.g. illegal sexual acts, disobedience of parents, polytheism, to tell lies, to give false witness, to kill a life without right, etc.), and Al-Munkar (i.e all that is prohibited by Islamic law: polytheism of every kind, disbelief and every kind of evil deeds, etc.), and Al-Baghy (i.e. all kinds of oppression), He admonishes you, that you may take heed. [Surah An-Nahl. Aayah 90]

Allah said:
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ يَہۡدِى لِلَّتِى هِىَ أَقۡوَمُ

Verily, this Qur’an guides to that which is most just and right.
[Surah Al-Israa. Ayah 9]

Allaah said:
اليوم أكملت لكم دينكم وأتممت عليكم نعمتي ورضيت لكم الإسلام دينا

This day, those who disbelieved have given up all hope of your religion, so fear them not, but fear Me. This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion]. [Surah Al-Maa’idah. Ayah 3]

Allah said: [وتمت كلمة ربك صدقا وعدلا – And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice (Surah Al-An’aam. Ayah 115)]- Meaning, Allah’s divine revelation through which He legislated the laws and established rulings. Indeed, Allah perfected them in every aspect, with no defect in any form- (perfect) truthful reports from Allah regarding His Oneness and Recompense, the sincerity of His Messengers in that which they have communicated regarding issues of the unseen, and just rulings. All of its commands are founded on (perfect) justice, benevolence, all types of good, righteousness, and (upright) rectification; its prohibitions are based on flawless wisdom, and it condemns all forms of injustice, transgression, and harm.

Allah said:
ومن أحسن من الله حكما لقوم يوقنون

And who is better in judgement than Allah for a people who have firm Faith.
[Surah Al-Maa’idah. Ayah 50]

Neither has Allah forbidden anything that a person of sound mind would say, “If only Allah had commanded it,” nor has Allah commanded anything that a person of sound mind would say, “If only Allah had forbidden it.” This religion has approved of all that is good and beneficial while forbidding all that is evil and harmful. Allah said:

الَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ الرَّسُولَ النَّبِيَّ الْأُمِّيَّ الَّذِي يَجِدُونَهُ مَكْتُوبًا عِندَهُمْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنجِيلِ يَأْمُرُهُم بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَاهُمْ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْخَبَائِثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ إِصْرَهُمْ وَالْأَغْلَالَ الَّتِي كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ

Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write (i.e. Muhammad) whom they find written with them in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), he commands them for Al-Ma’ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam has ordained); and forbids them from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden); he allows them as lawful At-Taiyibat [(i.e. all good and lawful) as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.], and prohibits them as unlawful Al-Khaba’ith (i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.), he releases them from their heavy burdens (of Allah’s Covenant), and from the fetters (bindings) that were upon them. [Surah Al-A’raaf. Aayah 157]

Islam is the religion that guides (Allah’s) servants towards everything that is beneficial to them in their worldly and religious affairs and cautions them to avoid everything that is detrimental to their livelihood and religion. When there is an ambiguity between things that bring about welfare and things that are corrupt, and between beneficial and harmful things, it commands them to establish consultation in choosing the affair whose greater benefit is clearly established and repelling the affair whose corruption is manifest.

It is the mighty comprehensive religion that commands belief in every (divine) book revealed by Allah and every Messenger sent by Allah. Allah said:

فلذلك فادع واستقم كما أمرت ولا تتبع أهواءهم وقل آمنت بما أنزل الله من كتاب وأمرت لأعدل بينكم الله ربنا وربكم لنا أعمالنا ولكم أعمالكم لا حجة بيننا وبينكم الله يجمع بيننا وإليه المصير

So unto this (religion of Islam, alone and this Qur’an) then invite (people) (O Muhammad ), and Istaqim [(i.e. stand firm and straight on Islamic Monotheism by performing all that is ordained by Allah (good deeds, etc.), and by abstaining from all that is forbidden by Allah (sins and evil deeds, etc.)], as you are commanded, and follow not their desires, but say, “I believe in whatsoever Allah has sent down of the Book [all the divine Books – the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel or the Pages of Ibrahim (Abraham), and this Qur’an as the final one, and the only one to be acted upon], and I am commanded to do justice among you, Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us our deeds and for you your deeds (good and bad). There is no dispute between us and you [i.e. after the realities have been manifested, and after the clear distinction between truth and falsehood, and after the clear distinction between guidance and misguidance, there is no room for debate because the goal behind the debate is to distinguish between right and wrong so that the one to be guided is guided and the proofs established against the misguided one (Tafseer Sadi)]. Allah will assemble us (all), and to Him is the final return. [Surah Ash-Shooraa. Ayah 15]

It is the mighty religion whose accuracy and perfection have been attested to by the All-Mighty Lord (Allah), as well as by the most perfect and the purest among the creation. Allah said:

شهد الله أنه لا إله إلا هو والملائكة وأولو العلم قائما بالقسط لا إله إلا هو العزيز الحكيم

Allah bears witness that Laa ilaaha illaa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), and the angels, and those having knowledge (also give this witness); (He is always) maintaining His creation in Justice. La ilah illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the All-Mighty, the All-Wise]. [Surah Aal Imran. Ayah 18]

Allah said:
إن الدين عند الله الإسلام
Truly, the religion with Allah is Islam.

[Surah Aal Imran. Ayah 19]

It is the religion through which Allah gathers outer and inner beauty, perfect morals, and deeds for those who embody it. Allah said:

ومن أحسن دينا ممن أسلم وجهه لله وهو محسن

And who can be better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah (i.e. follows Allah’s Religion of Islamic Monotheism); and he is a Muhsin (a good-doer)]. [Surah An-Nisaa. Ayah 125]

There is none better than one who is sincere to Allah, benevolent to Allah’s servants, and sincere in their adherence to Allah’s laws, which are the best of laws and the most upright methodology, so that their heart becomes imbued with sincerity and sound Islamic monotheism, and their morals and actions are based on upright guidance and sound rectification.

Allah said:
صبغة الله ومن أحسن من الله صبغة ونحن له عابدون

The Religion (ordained and chosen by) Allah (for humankind and jinn (i.e. Islam) and which religion can be better than the One (ordained and chosen) by Allah? And we are His worshippers.

It is the religion whose adherents – those who established it and embodied its guidance and teachings – gave the hearts access to good with knowledge and sound faith, and they triumphed over the inhabitants of the various regions of the earth through justice, mercy, and sincere advice to the human race.

It is the religion through which Allah rectifies the beliefs, morality, the worldly life, and (a person’s) affairs in the afterlife, and through which the disunited hearts and divergent desires unite (upon one upright path).

It is the great and decisive religion, conclusive in all of its judgements and reports. It doesn’t report or make judgements unless they are (perfect) statements of truth and justice that directly address the reality of the situation. There is no factual knowledge that invalidates any of its reports, and there is no ruling that is superior to its rulings. All affairs, both present and past, are perfectly addressed and governed by its foundations and rules. Because it is a revelation from the All-Wise, The One Worthy of All Praise (Allah), perfect equity and justice, mercy, goodness, and benevolence are applied wherever the various mutual dealings between individuals and groups are established–in every time and place–based on its fundamental principles.

Allah said:
كتاب أحكمت آياته ثم فصلت من لدن حكيم خبير

(This is) a Book (i.e. the Qur’an), the Verses whereof are perfected (in every sphere of knowledge, etc.), and then explained in detail from One (Allah), Who is All-Wise and Well-Acquainted (with all things)]. [Surah Hud Aayah 1]

Allah said:
لا يأتيه الباطل من بين يديه ولا من خلفه تنزيل من حكيم حميد

Falsehood cannot come to it from before it or behind it (it is) sent down by the All-Wise, Worthy of all praise (Allah)]. [Surah Fussilat. Ayah 42]

Allah said:
إنا نحن نزلنا الذكر وإنا له لحافظون

Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the reminder (i.e. the Qur’an) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption)]. [Surah Al-Hijr. Ayah 9]

Its words (statements and meanings) are unquestionably safe from addition, deficiency, and change, and its rulings are secure from deviation and deficiency; rather, they are at the highest degree of justice, uprightness, and a means of facilitating every good.

It is the magnificent religion that leads to the truth and the straight path–truthfulness is its motto, justice is its focal point, truth is its basis, mercy is its essence and goal, goodness is what always accompanies it, righteousness and upright rectification are its beauty and functions.

Islam is the religion that combines the needs of the body, the heart, and the soul. Allah gave the believers the same instructions He gave the Messengers, commanding them to worship Him alone, perform good deeds that please Him, eat from the good things (He provided), and extract (benefits from the various things He created), which He subjugated to His servants in this life. Those who truly established this affair achieved every lofty achievement and sound progress. Anyone who knows any of the attributes of this religion will know the huge favour that Allaah has bestowed on humankind and Jinn, and anyone who rejects it will fall into falsehood, misguidance, disillusionment, and loss. The creeds that oppose Islam are either founded on superstitions and the worship of images, or they follow the paths of materialism and atheism, and they cause their followers’ hearts and actions to resemble those of animals (in behaviour); in fact, they lead them even further away from the way of upright behaviour than animals do. This is because when sound religion (or creed) departs from the hearts, good morals are abandoned and replaced with evil behaviour; thus, those on this path are led to the lowest level of evil behaviour, and their greatest concern and knowledge is confined to the enjoyment of this present (temporary) worldly life. Thus, it is crucial to maintain the only balanced approach that agrees with the infallible divine text to avoid exaggeration and to give proper recognition to what truly deserves acknowledgment. Firstly, Shaikh Abu Iyaadh [may Allah preserve him] stated in his discussion regarding the connection between Zionism and Judaism: “However, it is important to note that not all Jews are involved in these intrigues and the Jews as a population have, throughout history, been subject to the whims and desires of their religious and political leaders, and have been made to undergo much persecution as a result. Also, there are many religious Jews who denounce Zionism as heresy in religion and cause of calamities for them and for Palestinians. Just as there are religious Jews who reject liberal and woke ideas used to disintegrate family and society. Hence, it is not correct to brush all Jews with the same brush, just as it is not correct to paint all Muslims with the brush of al-Ikhwān, Ḥizb al-Taḥrīr, al-Qaeda, ISIS and other extremists and terrorists”. Secondly, we now present the undeniable truth concerning the people of the Scripture after the advent of of the final Prophet Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him]. Allah [The Exalted] says:

[وَأُمِرۡتُ لِأَعۡدِلَ بَيۡنَكُمُ‌ۖ – and I am commanded to do justice among you], Meaning, when passing judgement regarding that which you have differed between yourselves. Therefore, your enmity and hatred do not prevent me from judging with justice between you. It is from justice that when judging between people who make different statements – amongst the people of the Scripture and others – one accepts what they possess of truth and rejects what they possess of falsehood.

[ٱللَّهُ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكُمۡ‌ۖ لَنَآ أَعۡمَـٰلُنَا وَلَكُمۡ أَعۡمَـٰلُڪُمۡ‌ۖ لَا حُجَّةَ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمُ‌ۖ ٱللَّهُ يَجۡمَعُ بَيۡنَنَا‌ۖ وَإِلَيۡهِ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ – Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us our deeds and for you your deeds. There is no dispute between us and you. Allah will assemble us (all), and to Him is the final return].

[لَا حُجَّةَ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمُ‌ۖ – There is no dispute between us and you] – Meaning, there is no dispute between us and you [i.e. after the realities have been manifested, and after the clear distinction between truth and falsehood, and after the clear distinction between guidance and misguidance, there is no room for debate, because the goal behind the debate is to distinguish between right and wrong so that the one to be guided is guided and the proofs established against the misguided one. [ٱللَّهُ يَجۡمَعُ بَيۡنَنَا‌ۖ وَإِلَيۡهِ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ – Allah will assemble us (all), and to Him is the final return] [2]

Allah [The Most High] said:

قُلۡ يَـٰٓأَهۡلَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ تَعَالَوۡاْ إِلَىٰ ڪَلِمَةٍ۬ سَوَآءِۭ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ أَلَّا نَعۡبُدَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ وَلَا نُشۡرِكَ بِهِۦ شَيۡـًٔ۬ا وَلَا يَتَّخِذَ بَعۡضُنَا بَعۡضًا أَرۡبَابً۬ا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَقُولُواْ ٱشۡهَدُواْ بِأَنَّا مُسۡلِمُونَ

Say (O Muhammad): “O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians): Come to a word that is just between us and you, that we worship none but Allah, and that we associate no partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as lords besides Allah. Then, if they turn away, say: “Bear witness that we are Muslims.” [Surah Aal Imraan. Ayah 64]

Meaning: say to the people of the scripture – the Jews and Christians, [تَعَالَوۡاْ إِلَىٰ ڪَلِمَةٍ۬ سَوَآءِۭ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ – Come to a word that is just between us and you]- Meaning: Come let us unite upon the statement which all the Prophets and Messengers agreed upon and none opposes it except the obstinate and misguided. This statement is not specific to anyone of us; rather it is something that you and us should establish between us, so this is justice and fairness in debate. Then Allah explains this and said: [أَلَّا نَعۡبُدَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ وَلَا نُشۡرِكَ بِهِۦ شَيۡـًٔ۬ا – that we worship none but Allah, and that we associate no partners with Him]- Meaning: We should single out Allah in worship, devoting all love, fear and hope to Him alone, and we should not associate anyone as partner with Allah in worship- neither a Prophet, an Angel, a Righteous Person, an Idol, a Deified image, a living or non-living thing, [وَلَا يَتَّخِذَ بَعۡضُنَا بَعۡضًا أَرۡبَابً۬ا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ – and that none of us shall take others as lords besides Allah]; rather all obedience is to be devoted to Allah and His Messengers. [فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَقُولُواْ ٱشۡهَدُواْ بِأَنَّا مُسۡلِمُونَ – Then, if they turn away, say: “Bear witness that we are Muslims]”. [3]

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allah have mercy upon him] said:

The believers – those whom Allah pardoned and accepted their repentance after they were in a state of ignorance and wrongdoing – are the true followers of the Prophets [peace and blessings of Allah be upon them], because indeed the Prophets [peace and blessings of Allah be upon them] were sent with knowledge and justice, as Allah [The Exalted] says:

وَٱلنَّجۡمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ

مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمۡ وَمَا غَوَىٰ

وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰٓ

إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحۡىٌ۬ يُوحَىٰ

By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). Your companion (Muhammad) has neither gone astray nor has erred. Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. [Surah An-Najm. Ayaat 1-4]

Therefore, Allah [The Exalted] made it known that Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] is neither misguided and ignorant, nor is he astray and following his desires, nor does he speak out of his own desires; rather he speaks based on the revelation which Allah revealed to him. Allah [The Exalted] says:

[هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرۡسَلَ رَسُولَهُ ۥ بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ ٱلۡحَقِّ لِيُظۡهِرَهُ ۥ عَلَى ٱلدِّينِ كُلِّهِۦ‌ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدً۬ا – He it is Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), that He may make it (Islam) superior over all religions. And All-Sufficient is Allah as a Witness]. [Surah Al-Fath. Ayah 28]

Guidance necessitates beneficial knowledge and the religion of truth necessitates righteous action, and it is built on justice, as Allah says: [لَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلَنَا بِٱلۡبَيِّنَـٰتِ وَأَنزَلۡنَا مَعَهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلۡمِيزَانَ لِيَقُومَ ٱلنَّاسُ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ‌ۖ – Indeed We have sent Our Messengers with clear proofs, and revealed with them the Scripture and the Balance (justice) that mankind may keep up justice]. [Surah Al-Hadeed. Ayah 25]

The foundation of justice in relation to fulfilment of Allah’s rights is to worship Allah alone without associating a partner to Him, for indeed ascribing partners to Allah in worship is great wrong, just as Allah stated that Luqman [peace be upon him] said: [يَـٰبُنَىَّ لَا تُشۡرِكۡ بِٱللَّهِ‌ۖ إِنَّ ٱلشِّرۡكَ لَظُلۡمٌ عَظِيمٌ۬ – O my son! Join not in worship others with Allah. Verily! Joining others in worship with Allah is a great Zulm (wrong) indeed]. [Surah Luqmaan. Ayah 13]

In Bukhaari and Muslim, Abdullah Bin Mas’ood [may Allah be pleased with him] said that when the Ayah was revealed [ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَلَمۡ يَلۡبِسُوٓاْ إِيمَـٰنَهُم بِظُلۡمٍ – Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and worship none but Him Alone) and mix their belief with wrong], it worried the companions of Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him]; so they said, “Who amongst us has not wronged himself?” So, Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “It is not what you think; rather it is to ascribe partners to Allaah. Have you not heard the statement of Allaah’s righteous servant [i.e. Luqmaan (peace be upon him)]: [إِنَّ ٱلشِّرۡكَ لَظُلۡمٌ عَظِيمٌ۬- Verily ascribing partners to Allaah in worship is great wrong].

And when it is case that the true followers of the Prophets [peace and blessings of Allah be upon them] are people of knowledge and justice, therefore the speech of the people of Islam and the true adherents to the Prophetic Sunnah regarding the unbelievers and the proponents of religious innovations has to be based on knowledge and justice, and not conjecture and what the soul desires. And due to this the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said: “The judges are three: one will go to Paradise and two to Hell. A man who knows the truth and judges with it will enter paradise; a man who knows the truth but judges with the opposite of it will enter the fire, and a man who judges for the people based on ignorance will enter the fire’’. [Reported by Imaam Abu Dawud 3573]

And when it is the case that the one who judges between the people in [affairs] of wealth, blood [i.e. murder cases, physical violence etc] and honour will enter the hell fire if he is not a just scholar, then how about the one who passes judgements – without knowledge and justice – on creeds, religions, the fundamentals of belief, divine knowledge and the general fundamental principles related to different subject matters, as is the case with ahlul bidah wal ahwaa [the people of religious innovations and desires]- those who follow the ambiguous doubtful matters, abandon those explicitly clear texts that have transmitted by the Prophets [peace and blessings of Allah be upon them], cling to affairs that share an ambiguous similarity through mere analogy and opinions, and then present affairs whose differences can neither be reconciled nor equated, just as is the case with the unbelievers and all the proponents of religious innovation and followers of desires, who liken the creation to the Creator [i.e. they give the creation the Perfect Attributes that only belong to the Creator], and liken the Creator to the creation [i.e. by describing the Creator with the imperfect attributes of the Creation], and then they put forward an evil similitude for Allah by way of thoughtless and confusing speech. This is because the false religion of the Christians is an innovated [or concocted] religion- innovated after the departure of the Messiah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] and altered the religion of the Messiah through it; so they deviated from the Messiah’s [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] path and remained upon that which they innovated.

Then when Allah [The Exalted] sent Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], they disbelieved in him; so their disbelief and misguidance occurred in two way- substitution of the religion of the first Messenger [i.e. the Messiah] and belied the second Messenger [i.e. Muhammad], just as the Jews substituted the rulings of the Torah before the Messiah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] was sent and then belied him. The Christians’ denial of the Messengership of Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] is a well-known belief of theirs to every Muslim, which is similar to the Jews’ disbelief in the Messiah [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him]. The Christians emphasise the disbelief of the Jews greater than what the Jews deserve, because the Jews claimed that the Messiah was a magician and a liar; rather they said that he is an illegitimate child, as Allaah informed us about them: [وَقَوۡلِهِمۡ عَلَىٰ مَرۡيَمَ بُہۡتَـٰنًا عَظِيمً۬ا – And their speech against Maryam (Mary)- a grave false charge (that she has committed illegal sexual intercourse]. [Surah An-Nisaa. Aayah 156]; however, the Christians claimed that the Messiah [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] is Allaah, so therefore the trial between them and the Jews regarding the Messiah [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] involved a lot of contradictions, misguidance at similar levels and confrontation, and this is why both nations rebuked one another with something more than what each of them deserved, just as Allaah said:

وَقَالَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ وَقَالَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ وَهُمۡ يَتۡلُونَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ‌ۗ كَذَٲلِكَ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ مِثۡلَ قَوۡلِهِمۡ‌ۚ فَٱللَّهُ يَحۡكُمُ بَيۡنَهُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَخۡتَلِفُونَ

The Jews said that the Christians follow nothing; and the Christians said that the Jews follow nothing; though they both recite the Scripture. Like unto their word, said (the pagans) who know not. Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection about that wherein they have been differing. [Surah Al-Baqarah. Ayah 113]

Muhammad Bin Abee Muhammad [may Allah ave mercy upon him] the protege of Zaid Bin Thaabit [may Allah be pleased with him] reported from Ikrimah [may Allah be pleased with him] or Saeed Bin Jubayr [may Allah have mercy upon him], who reported from Ibn Abbaas [may Allah be pleased with him and his father]that when the Christian delegation of Najraan came to the Messenger of Allah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], the Rabbis came and argued with them in the presence of the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him]; so Rabee bin Hurmilah said, “You are upon nothing”, so he disbelieved in Eesaa [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] and all the Injeel”; then a man from the people of Najraan said to the Jews, “You are upon nothing”, so he wilfully denied Moosaa’s [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] Prophethood and disbelieved in the Torah, so Allah revealed: [وَقَالَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ وَقَالَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ وَهُمۡ يَتۡلُونَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ‌ۗ – The Jews said that the Christians follow nothing; and the Christians said that the Jews follow nothing; though they both recite the Scripture]. [Surah Al-Baqarah. Aayah 113]

So each of them recited the affirmation of what they reject in their book- meaning, the Jews disbelieved in Eesaa [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] whilst they had the Torah in which Allah established the evidence against them through Moosaa [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] that they should believe in Eesaa [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him]; and in the Injeel, Eesaa [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] confirmed the Messengership of Moosaa [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] and what he came with. So, each one disbelieved in what was in the possession of the other. [Ibn Abee Haatim. 1/339]

[وَقَالَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ – The Jews said that the Christians follow nothing]; Qataadah [may Allah have mercy upon him] said regarding this Ayah, “Certainly, the early Christians were upon something, but they innovated and split”. [وَقَالَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ – and the Christians said that the Jews follow nothing]; Qataadah said regarding this Ayah, “Certainly, the early Jews were upon something, but they innovated and split”. The Jews belied the religion of the Christians and said that the Christians were upon nothing; and the Christians denied everything through which the Jews were distinguished from them, even the laws of the Torah which the Messiah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] did not abrogate; rather he commanded them to act upon it. As for the Jews, they denied many of things through which others were distinguished from them, until they denied the truth brought by Eesaa [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him].

So, even though the Christians – due to that which they innovated of exaggeration and misguidance – went into extremes in excommunicating the Jews and showed them enmity beyond what is obligated, however there is no doubt that the Jews disbelieved when they belied the Messiah [peace and blesssings of Allaah be upon him], just as Allaah [The Exalted] said to the Messiah [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him]:

إِنِّى مُتَوَفِّيكَ وَرَافِعُكَ إِلَىَّ وَمُطَهِّرُكَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ڪَفَرُواْ وَجَاعِلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوكَ فَوۡقَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ

I will take you and raise you to Myself and clear you [of the forged statement that ‘Iesa (Jesus) is Allah’s son] of those who disbelieve, and I will make those who follow you (Monotheists, who worship none but Allah) superior to those who disbelieve [in the Oneness of Allah, or disbelieve in some of His Messengers, e.g. Muhammad, ‘Iesa (Jesus), Musa (Moses), etc., or in His Holy Books, e.g. the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel), the Qur’an] till the Day of Resurrection. [Surah Aal Imraan. Ayah 55]

And Allah [The Exalted] says:

قَالَ عِيسَى ٱبۡنُ مَرۡيَمَ لِلۡحَوَارِيِّـۧنَ مَنۡ أَنصَارِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ‌ۖ قَالَ ٱلۡحَوَارِيُّونَ نَحۡنُ أَنصَارُ ٱللَّهِ‌ۖ فَـَٔامَنَت طَّآٮِٕفَةٌ۬ مِّنۢ بَنِىٓ إِسۡرَٲٓءِيلَ وَكَفَرَت طَّآٮِٕفَةٌ۬‌ۖ فَأَيَّدۡنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ عَلَىٰ عَدُوِّهِمۡ فَأَصۡبَحُواْ ظَـٰهِرِينَ

Eesaa the son of Maryam said to Al-Hawariun (the disciples): “Who are my helpers (in the Cause) of Allah?” Al-Hawarieen (the disciples) said: “We are Allah’s helpers” (i.e. we will strive in His Cause!). Then a group of the Children of Israel believed and a group disbelieved. So We gave power to those who believed against their enemies, and they became the uppermost. [Surah As-Saff. Ayah 14]

The disbelief of the Christians – due to their denial of Muhammad’s [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] Messengership and being in opposition to the Muslims- is greater than the disbelief of the Jews due to their denial of the Messiah’s [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] Messengership, because indeed the Messiah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] only abrogated a little from the Torah and all the laws and acts of worship ordained for him could be traced back to the Torah; however the majority of the beliefs and practices of the Christians were innovated after the departure of the Messiah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him]. That which is found in the Jews’ denial of the Messiah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] by opposing Allah’s Shariah is not the same as the Christians’ denial of Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], who brought an independent book from Allaah, because nothing in the laws of the Qur’an was ordained based on the law of another Messenger. Allaah [The Exalted] said: [أَوَلَمۡ يَكۡفِهِمۡ أَنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡڪِتَـٰبَ يُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِمۡ‌ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٲلِكَ لَرَحۡمَةً۬ وَذِڪۡرَىٰ لِقَوۡمٍ۬ يُؤۡمِنُونَ – Is it not sufficient for them that We have sent down to you the Book (the Qur’an) which is recited to them? Verily, herein is mercy and a reminder (or an admonition) for a people who believe]. [Surah Al-Ankabut. Ayah 51]

The Qur’an is an independent book like the Torah of Moosaa [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], even though the Qur’an is greater than it. And this is why the Christian scholars made a connection between Moosaa and Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be upon them], just as when An-Najaashee [may Allah have mercy upon him]- the (Ethiopian) king of the Christians- heard the Qur’an, he said, “Indeed, this and what Moosaa brought came from the same source”.

Also, when Waqarah bin Nawfil [may Allah have mercy upon him] – who was one of Christian Arab scholars- heard the statement of the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], he said, “Indeed, the Naamoos [i.e. Jibreel] came to you, who was sent to Moosaa. I wish I were young till when your people expel you [i.e. from Makkah]”. Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] asked, “Will these people drive me out?” Waraqah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Yes, for nobody brought the like of what you have brought, but was treated with hostility. If I were to remain alive till your day [when you start calling to Islaam], then I would support you strongly”. [Bukhaari]

And this is why Allah mentions the Torah and the Qur’an together in His statement:

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِنۡ عِندِنَا قَالُواْ لَوۡلَآ أُوتِىَ مِثۡلَ مَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰٓ‌ۚ أَوَلَمۡ يَڪۡفُرُواْ بِمَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰ مِن قَبۡلُ‌ۖ قَالُواْ سِحۡرَانِ تَظَـٰهَرَا وَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا بِكُلٍّ۬ كَـٰفِرُونَ

قُلۡ فَأۡتُواْ بِكِتَـٰبٍ۬ مِّنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ أَهۡدَىٰ مِنۡہُمَآ أَتَّبِعۡهُ إِن ڪُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِينَ

But when the truth (i.e. Muhammad with his Message) has come to them from Us, they say: “Why is he not given the like of what was given to Musa (Moses)? Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Musa (Moses) of old? They say: “Two kinds of magic [the Taurat (Torah) and the Qur’an] each helping the other!” And they say: “Verily! In both we are disbelievers.” Say (to them, O Muhammad): “Then bring a Book from Allah, which is a better guide than these two [the Taurat (Torah) and the Qur’an], that I may follow it, if you are truthful.” [Surah Al-Qasas. Aayaat 48-49]

Allah did not revealed books that were a better guide than the Tawraat and the Qur’aan. Then Allah says:

فَإِن لَّمۡ يَسۡتَجِيبُواْ لَكَ فَٱعۡلَمۡ أَنَّمَا يَتَّبِعُونَ أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡ‌ۚ وَمَنۡ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنِ ٱتَّبَعَ هَوَٮٰهُ بِغَيۡرِ هُدً۬ى مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَہۡدِى ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

But if they answer you not (i.e. do not believe in your doctrine of Islamic Monotheism, nor follow you), then know that they only follow their own lusts. And who is more astray than one who follows his own lusts, without guidance from Allah? Verily! Allah guides not the people who are Zalimun (wrong-doers, disobedient to Allah, and polytheists). [Surah Al-Qasas. Ayah 50] [4]

Jerusalem remained in Muslim hands for five centuries until it fell into the hands of the Christian Crusaders in the year 492AH. So they entered and wreaked havoc on it, killing about seventy thousand of its people, until, as some historians say, the only thing seen was the piles of severed heads, hands, and feet in the roads and squares, plundered, stormed Al-Aqsa Masjid and slaughtered those who took shelter there, until the Masjid’s courtyards were stained with the blood of worshipers and those who were in a state of bowing and prostration.

The leader of the Crusade, Raymond, proceeded to enter the Masjid’s courtyard, seeking his way among the corpses and blood that had reached its courtyard. The Crusader fighters entered with him, where they destroyed the furniture of the Masjid, and looted the lamps, which amounted to more than forty lamps of silver, each lamp whose price in weight was three thousand and six hundred dirhams, and they took more than twenty lamps of gold. The Al-Aqsa Masjid and blessed Jerusalem remained under the occupation of the invading Christians for a period of ninety-one years, until Allah facilitated (the Ummah with) Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi [may Allah have mercy upon him], who had great enthusiasm to guard the sanctities of the Muslims. Then when Sunday, the 15th of Rajab in the year 583 AH arrived, he camped with his army west of Jerusalem, then moved to the northern side and camped there. He restricted the Franks’ paths, and by throwing catapults, he laid siege on Jerusalem which led the Crusaders to hand over the city. This took place on Friday 27th of Rajab in the aforementioned year. [1]

Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen [may Allah have mercy upon him] stated: Establish Islam among yourselves [I], then after that, Allah will aid His religion because Allah will not support so-and-so because he is so-and-so, or support this party because they are Arabs or support that party because they are so-and-so. He aids the one who establishes this religion (of Islam properly). Was Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi [may Allah have mercy upon him] of Arab by descent? He was not Arab, but Allah aided him against the Christians (Crusaders) because he established the religion ordained by Allah. [2]

Imaam Muhammad Ameen Ash-Shanqeetee [may Allah have mercy upon him] stated regarding the causes of weakness in the Ummah: The Great Qur’an provides guidance on how to resolve this issue through the most suitable and upright path. Allah explained that the solution to this is related to turning to Him truthfully, one’s degree of faith in Him, and reliance upon Him. That is because Allah is All-Strong and All-Mighty, the Overwhelming and Absolute Subduer of everything, Who is never overcome. Consequently, it is impossible to prevail over someone who is truly an ally of Allah. One glaring example of this was during the Battle of the Confederates when the Muslims were under siege by the unbelievers. Allah says:

إِذْ جَآءُوكُم مِّن فَوْقِكُمْ وَمِنْ أَسْفَلَ مِنكُمْ وَإِذْ زَاغَتِ ٱلْأَبْصَٰرُ وَبَلَغَتِ ٱلْقُلُوبُ ٱلْحَنَاجِرَ وَتَظُنُّونَ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلظُّنُونَا۠
هُنَالِكَ ٱبْتُلِىَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَزُلْزِلُوا۟ زِلْزَالًا شَدِيدًا

When they came upon you from above you and from below you, and when the eyes grew wild and the hearts reached to the throats, and you were harbouring doubts about Allah. There, the believers were tried and shaken with a mighty shaking. [Surah Al-Ahzaab. Ayaat 10-11]

Aside from the fact that the Muslims were cut off politically and economically at the time by everyone on Earth, consider the severity of this military siege and its effects on them! When you realise this, you should be aware that Allah said in Surah Al-Ahzaab the following as the solution to this enormous affair that ended this great difficulty. Allah says:

وَلَمَّا رَءَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلْأَحْزَابَ قَالُوا۟ هَٰذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَصَدَقَ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَمَا زَادَهُمْ إِلَّآ إِيمَٰنًا وَتَسْلِيمًا

And when the believers saw Al-Ahzaab (the confederates), they said: “This is what Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad) had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad) had spoken the truth, and it only added to their faith and to their submissiveness (to Allah). [Surah Al-Ahzaab. Ayah 22]

That enormous difficulty was ended by this perfect belief in Allah, great submission to Him, and dependence and reliance on Him. And in fact, Allah made clear the benefits of this treatment. Allah mentioned the fruits of this remedy, saying:

وَرَدَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِغَيْظِهِمْ لَمْ يَنَالُوا۟ خَيْرًا وَكَفَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱلْقِتَالَ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ قَوِيًّا عَزِيزًا
وَأَنزَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَٰهَرُوهُم مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ مِن صَيَاصِيهِمْ وَقَذَفَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلرُّعْبَ فَرِيقًا تَقْتُلُونَ وَتَأْسِرُونَ فَرِيقًا
وَأَوْرَثَكُمْ أَرْضَهُمْ وَدِيَٰرَهُمْ وَأَمْوَٰلَهُمْ وَأَرْضًا لَّمْ تَطَـُٔوهَا وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرًا

And Allah drove back those who disbelieved in their rage; they gained no advantage (booty, etc.). Allah sufficed for the believers in the fighting (by sending against the disbelievers a severe wind and troops of angels). And Allah is Ever All-Strong, All-Mighty. And those of the people of the Scripture who backed them [the Quraish disbelievers] Allah brought them down from their forts and cast terror into their hearts, (so that) a group (of them) you killed (during the battle), and a group (of them) you made captives. And He caused you to inherit (as war booty) their lands, and their houses, and their riches, and a land which you had not trodden (before). And Allah is Able to do all things. [Surah Al-Ahzaab. Ayaat 25-27]

This is how Allah supported them in their fight against their adversaries. They had no idea nor aware that they were aided by the wind and the angels. Allah says:

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ جَآءَتْكُمْ جُنُودٌ فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا وَجُنُودًا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرًا

O you who believe! Remember Allah’s Favour to you, when there came against you hosts, and We sent against them a wind and forces that you saw not [i.e. troops of angels during the battle of Al-Ahzab (the Confederates)]. And Allah is Ever All-Seer of what you do. (1) [End of quote]

Therefore, we can never lose hope because the oppressed believers will receive help one day regardless of the difficulties. However, because it was Iman and complete submission that brought about relief in those trying circumstances during the battle of the confederates, let us strive to increase in Iman and submission, while also doing everything we can within the boundaries of the Sunnah to aid the oppressed.

Allah [The Exalted] said:

وَإِذَا قُلۡتُمۡ فَٱعۡدِلُواْ وَلَوۡ ڪَانَ ذَا قُرۡبَىٰ‌ۖ

And when you testify, be just, even if (it concerns) a near relative. [1]

When you testify by way of a statement to judge between people, differentiate between them in a discourse, and speak regarding matters and circumstances, be just in your speech, adhere to truthfulness regarding those you love and those you hate, be fair and do not conceal what needs to be made clear because it is forbidden and tantamount to injustice to divert (from justice and fairness) when speaking against the one you hate. Second, Benjamin Netanyahu’s Zionist army has recently been accused of using white phosphorous in Gaza; however, they’ve responded to this by saying “Currently we are not aware of the use of weapons containing white phosphorus in Gaza, but rather such a claim is unequivocally false”.

Description of White Phosphorus:

Whoever researches will come across the following:

Toxic and wax-like, white phosphorus burns at temperatures above 800 degrees Celsius (about 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit), hot enough to melt metal. White phosphorus is the material of choice for militaries to construct smokescreens because of its capacity to start quickly spreading fires and produce thick smoke over large distances which usually lingers for seven minutes. Weapons carrying white phosphorus are hard to put out; they will keep flaming until the phosphorous is completely burned or removed from contact with oxygen. White phosphorus contains compounds that, if absorbed by the body, can burn skin all the way down to the bone and cause malfunctions in the liver, kidneys, and heart, among other organs. There are two effects of the burns: the burn itself, which is typically quite deep and severe, has a local effect, and the second effect is metabolic, which can be fatal for the patients. Heart failure can be caused by abnormal potassium levels, which are a symptom of metabolic diseases. White phosphorus can rekindle if it comes into contact with the skin again since it is sticky and can adhere to a variety of surfaces, including clothing. Additionally, breathing in the fumes can be fatal, and they can cause significant eye irritation and light sensitivity.

Therefore, even if a person were to argue that “Phosphorous is no different from petrol reacting to a lighted match, and that what differentiates it from chemical weapons is that its reaction is not directed against the human physiology”, we ask them whether someone can claim not to be held liable if he pours petrol in another person’s house or city district and then throws a lighted match in the area, causing death and destruction?! Therefore, can someone similarly argue that they should not be held accountable if they spread white phosphorous around a person’s home or city district and then set it on fire with firearms?! Rather, even if a person committed an act for which he truly deserves the death penalty under Islamic law, it would not be permissible to punish him through burning or fire. Imam Al-Bukhari [may Allah have mercy upon him] stated: “Chapter: Not to punish with Allah’s punishment”. Ikrimah reported that Ali burnt some people and this news reached Ibn Abbaas, who said, “Had I been in his place I would not have burnt them, as the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, ‘Don’t punish (anybody) with Allah’s Punishment”. [Saheeh Al-Bukhari 3017]

As a result, it makes no difference whether white phosphorous is permitted by anyone regardless of their expertise because only the final infallible divine revelation [The Qur’an and authentic Sunnah] as understood and implemented by the Sahaabah is the source through which what should be considered lawful or unlawful during military conflict is decided, not the views of any war-monger, war-criminal, racist or organisation that seeks victory for its allies at any cost or exclusively on the basis of “the ends justify the means.” Therefore, we wait for a Fatwa from the Senior Salafi Scholars that justify the use of this chemical!

Third, the Zionist military cannot deny the fact that it has used white phosphorous in the past as stated in the Jerusalem Post as follows:

However, as for the recent claims -[the specific events after 7/10/23] -that Netanyahu’s army of Zionists are using it again, this is still being investigated, so we’ll wait for the reliable and unbiased investigators and experts – among Muslims and non-Muslims – to produce a final report. We neither negate nor affirm until the affair is finalised, but what remains a fact is that the Zionists did use white phosphorous in the past.

Finally, every oppressor who uses these barbaric methods reminds us of what has been stated in Surah Al-Burooj. Allah said:

قُتِلَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ

Cursed were the People of the Ditch, (the large ditch with) the fire, given fuel (in abundance). While they were sat over it (watching those whom they punished by burning). [3]

Imam As-Sadi [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: This is the greatest type of tyranny and heart-heartedness because they combined disbelief in Allah’s Ayaat and wilful opposition to them, waging war against its adherents and torturing them with this torment, which the extremely heart-breaking, whilst they are present and throwing them into it. And the fact is that they did not take revenge on the believers except due to a characteristic for which they are praised, and by way of which they attain happiness (in this life and the next), which is that they believed in Allah. [4]

Imam Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “They saw the fire burning these people while sitting and joking as if nothing was happening, and Allah’s protection is sought (against this behaviour). This is tyranny that a person sees a human being burnt with fire while he reclines on his couch and is distracted by the conversation and does not care”. [5]

Conferences and seminars

Christian Zionists have hosted and continue to hold numerous conferences and seminars in order to achieve their aims of persuading people not to reject it, gathering the largest number of supporters, and justifying its political, economic, and intellectual activities. In this context, I will mention examples of these conferences and seminars to demonstrate what we perceive to be Christian Zionism’s pursuit of goals and objectives. [Footnote a] The following are the most important of these conferences:

[1] American Christian Conference: This conference was held by an American organization, the “Loyal American Federal Organization For Palestine”. It was held in New York City, America, on December 15, 1936, and was attended by more than 200 personalities, including government officials and Zionist Christian clerics. The conference issued a resolution calling on civilised societies [Footnote b] to assist fleeing Jewish refugees from Germany and Eastern Europe to enter Palestine because it is their natural safe haven.

[2] National Christian Leadership Conference for Israel: It is an annual conference held and organised by the “National Christian Leadership Conference for Israel” in Washington, the capital of the United States of America. As is the title of the conference and the organization, it is held to serve Israel and its interests. Members of the US Congress usually attend the conference. The conference, held in June 1982, called for demonstrations in support of Israel’s invasion of Lebanon, and demonstrations have already taken place in many American cities with the demand to support Israel militarily and economically and understand Israel’s need to protect its people from terrorism. [Footnote c] At this conference, a final statement was issued to support the Jews, emphasising the commitment to Israel’s security and protection, and that all the Jewish Holy Lands belong to the people, and that Jerusalem is the unified and eternal capital of Israel, which may not be internationalised, or be a subject of negotiation or compromise, and that the Jewish people anywhere will remain God’s chosen people– those who invoke blessings on them are blessed by the Lord, while those who curse them are cursed by the Lord. This annual conference includes lectures and seminars by leading Zionist thinkers and Christians, and chaired by Franklin Little, a lecturer at Temple University in Pennsylvania. [Footnote e] It was held in one of the Jewish synagogues in Washington, D.C., under the slogan: “Encounters Between Fundamentalist Christianity and Jewish Leadership”. Following this conference, they held another conference titled “The National Christian Conference”, whose president stated, “The National Christian Conference was established for the purpose of uniting Christians from a variety of names and organisations who have a common shared interest in the safety of the Jewish homeland”. At the conference’s inaugural meeting, which was attended by one hundred people, including fundamentalists and members from the National Conference of Catholic Bishops and the National Council of Churches, Jack Camp, the Republican Party delegate from New York, stated regarding the establishment of Israel in 1948 as the fulfilment of “biblical prophecy,” and that the United States of America’s role is to provide opportunities for the fulfilment of biblical prophecies in Israel.

[3] “Breakfast and Prayer Conference for Israel”: This conference is one of the activities of the “Religious Round Table” organisation, which was held in Washington, D.C. in 1983. Following the conference, the final declaration was released, which contained paragraphs regarding Israel’s religious, political, and military interests, and the most important of them were:

[I] The call for cooperation – in all spheres – between the United States of America and Israel; then they quoted specific texts from the Old Testament affirming the Jewish right to Palestine.

[II] Calling for the relocation of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The statement recognised that the borders of the Holy Land, as defined by the Bible, could not be altered by evolving political and economic circumstances. This conference is held annually, which is why it is referred to as the annual breakfast party organised by the aforementioned organisation to pray for Israel and support its policies and aims. Following the prayer, those conferred or gathered to celebrate usually make a statement in which Israel is blessed in the name of more than 50 million Christians in the United States of America who believe in the Torah. [Footnote f] Political and religious figures, notable businesses, and members from the American government all attend the breakfast meeting. It expresses unequivocal support for Jewish policies in Palestine. On February 1, 1984, they held a conference to pray for Israel at the Shoreham Hotel in the American capital, Washington, where they distributed a Jewish book about the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in the summer of 1982, which they called “a liberation operation of Lebanon from terrorism,” and images from the invasion were also included in the book. More than 500 people attended the prayer conference, including Jewish Zionist leaders such as Alleck Resnick, head of the Zionist Organisation. US Attorney General Edwin Meese, US Ambassador to the Organisation of American States, William Middendorf, Senator Charles E. Grassley, and Breger Marshall, Special Assistant to President Ronald Reagan, all attended the conference. The conference’s topics revolved around the covenant relations between God and the Jewish people, as well as “the responsibility placed on Christians to stand by Israel in the implementation of this “Biblical Covenant”. When you hold secret counsel, do it not for sin and wrong-doing, and disobedience towards the Messenger (Muhammad) but do it for Al-Birr (righteousness) and Taqwa (virtues and piety), and fear Allah unto Whom you shall be gathered. Secret counsels (conspiracies) are only from Shaitan (Satan), in order that he may cause grief to the believers. But he cannot harm them in the least, except as Allah permits, and in Allah let the believers put their trust”. [Surah Al-Mujaadilah. Ayaat 9-10]

Those before them indeed plotted, but Allah struck at the foundation of their building, and then the roof fell down upon them, from above them, and the torment overtook them from directions they did not perceive. [Surah Al-Nahl. Ayah 26]

Imam As-Sadi [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: This is one the best of parables regarding how Allah nullifies the plots of his enemies, for indeed they pondered and reflected on that which the Messengers brought when they belied them, made up principles and rules for it based on falsehood, referred back to them to reject that which the Messengers came with, employed tricks to bring discomfort to the Messengers and inflict harm on them and those who followed them, but their plot became a source of evil against them, so their plan became their destruction because their plot was evil, “But the evil plot encompasses only him who makes it”. [Surah Faatir: Ayah: 43] [An Excerpt from Tafseer as-Sadi]

Footnote b: Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: There is no doubt that knowledge is the mainstay on which the foundations of human life are based. And the knowledge that is most worthy to be given importance and concern is the knowledge of the Islamic Shariah because through it is known the wisdom (or purpose) for which Allaah [The Exalted] created us and sent the Messengers. And by way of this knowledge, we acquire knowledge and awareness regarding Allah and worship Him based on that, as Allah stated:

[وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنْسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ – I (Allah) did not create the Jinn and humankind except to worship me alone]. [Surah Adh-Dhaariyaat. Ayah 56]

Allah [Glorified be He and free is He from all imperfections] stated:

[وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَسُولًا أَنِ اُعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاجْتَنِبُوا الطَّاغُوتَ – Indeed, We have sent a Messenger to every nation, saying, “Worship Allah alone and keep away from all false deities]. [Surah An-Nahl. Ayah 36]

Based on these two Ayaat, one knows the wisdom behind the creation of Jinn and humankind and the wisdom behind the advent of the Messengers. Any nation without sound belief or sound religion is an ignorant nation regardless of how advanced and developed it is, as Allah [Glorified be He and free is He from all imperfections] stated: [أَمْ تَحْسَبُ أَنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ أَوْ يَعْقِلُونَ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا كَالْأَنْعَامِ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلً – Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path. (i.e. even worse than cattle)]. [Surah Al-Furqan. Ayah 44]

A good life is the life of the people of (Islamic) knowledge and faith, as Allah [The Exalted] said:

[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ – O you who believe! Answer Allah (by obeying Him) and (His) Messenger when he calls you to that which will give you life]. [Surah Al-Anfaal. Ayah 24] [Majmoo Fataawaa Wa Maqaalaat Ash-Shaikh Ibn Baaz. 2/316]

Zionist lobby: Paul Findley worked as a member of the US Congress for 22 years and left it in 1982. He was opposed to the Zionist lobby on American policy and wrote two books on the subject of Zionist pressure means controlling American decisions. The two books are, “They Dare to Speak Out” and “Deliberate Deceptions”, translated into Arabic, and he established the National Interest Council for the same purpose. The two books provide an in-depth study of Zionist lobbying in politics and American society.

The Christian-Zionist lobby, or influential pressure from Christian Zionists, appeared in the United States of America before the Jewish-Zionist lobby, and it became increasingly influential in the nineteenth century CE because it infiltrated the Republican Party, which has controlled the House of Representatives since 1994. There is no doubt that the Christian Zionist lobby plays a powerful and significant role in the American political system and political processes by attempting to influence decision-makers in the political system. These organisations use various means, including pressure, to carry out their activities. “Lobby” means the dissemination of information with the goal of persuading and influencing the decisions of others, especially in the two institutions, legislative and executive, as well as influencing the masses through their influence on the individual’s direction, opinion, and political positions, as well as on other collective organisations, and influence to support the election victory of candidates. These forceful Christian Zionist organisations began gradually in America many years ago, penetrating the decision-making spheres, until they attained their goal in the last few years. The Jewish Zionist lobby consists primarily of the “American Israel Public Affairs Committee – AIPAC,” which was founded in 1959, and the Conference of “Heads of Jewish Organisations,” which was also founded in 1959, as well as political action committees, the most important of which is the “National Committee for Political Action,” in which 300 Jewish organisations are active, and was established in 1982, and there are many more in this field in the United States of America. It’s important to note that Christian Zionism did not stop at influencing and permeating the ideas of American presidents; rather, it spread to numerous influential political forums, including the Senate and the House of Representatives, which influenced American policy. An illustration of this was the formation of the “American Palestinian Committee,” a group of non-Jewish politicians in America, in May 1932. In addition to numerous government officials in the Council of Ministers, ten members of the House of Representatives and eighteen members of the Senate were among its founders. This committee’s objectives were to coordinate Christian Zionists’ efforts to collaborate on Jewish issues and the formation of public opinion in the USA among non-Jews about the objectives, accomplishments, and activities of Zionists in Palestine. In 1941, it announced its main principles, which included the following: “The American Palestine Committee is dedicated to upholding the values outlined in the Balfour Declaration, which have been reaffirmed by the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the statements made by the President of the Republic. We believe that the Jewish national homeland in Palestine will play a significant and vital role in the universal system, which must ultimately result in victory”. Along with being among the first to ratify the Balfour Declaration, the American Federal Labour Federation likewise acknowledged the “legitimate demands of the Jewish people” based on the right to self-government. Umar applied this principle in the khilaafah. He feared dishonor after his death, so he did not appoint a specific person, except that he said, ‘If Abu Ubaydah [may Allah be pleased with him] was alive, I would have given him the affair because the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, ‘The trustworthy man of this Muslim nation is Abu Ubaydah [may Allah be pleased with him]'”. Pat Robertson, an advocate of Zionism, declared in 1988 that he would run for president from the Republican Party; however, he was not successful in winning the nomination. Consequently, he established the “Christian Coalition” organisation, which served as the foundation for the Christian right and played a significant role in the victories of George W. Bush, several members of Congress, and state governors in the 1988 elections, then expanded at the state level through city councils and school boards. Christian Zionist and Republican Ralph Reed, who also served as the director of the Christian Coalition, stated, “We feel that the Christian community has lost its way in a number of ways by concentrating only on the White House and Congress when most issues that affect evangelical Protestants and conservative Catholics are decided in state legislatures, school boards, and local councils.

Following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in August 1990, Christian Zionists disseminated propaganda claiming that Saddam Hussain was the Antichrist and that the Russians would back him in the war against Israel. This set the stage for the Armageddon conflict between the forces of good, led by America, Israel, and their allies, and the forces of evil, represented by the Arabs and Russians, which would culminate in the return of Christ and the end of the world. In 1982, some Arab newspapers, citing the Israeli periodical “Kivunim” published a report from the World Zionist Organisation in Jerusalem under the title “Israel’s Plan in the Eighties,” and it was stated in the report, “As for Iraq, it is rich in oil and prone to internal conflicts, and dismantling it will be more important for us than dismantling Syria because Iraq represents the most dangerous threat to Israel in the short term, and a Syrian-Iraqi war will help destroy Iraq internally before it is able to help in the Arab disintegration.” [Footnote a]

US President George H. W. Bush had close ties with Christian Zionist organisations. He also had a close acquaintance with the evangelical Zionist priest Billy Graham, president of the Southern Baptist Convention and the most powerful Zionist priest in American and international public opinion. The other fanatical Zionist priest, Jerry Falwell, campaigned for the election of George Bush senior to the presidency, and therefore some writers have stated that Jerry Falwell’s support and that of his followers was the main reason for George Bush winning the presidency. Also, during the war on Iraq, this president used to sit with Christian Zionist clerics, and he incurred huge sums for settling Soviet Jews in Palestine, as well as committed criminal acts during the Gulf War. Christian Zionism grew into a political force. In America, white Protestant evangelicals accounted for 25% of registered voters, ten times the votes of Jews, four times the votes of non-religious people, and three times the votes of African Americans. Christians, who are the most educated, wealthy, and employed among Americans, controlled 31 of the Republican Party’s congressional seats in 1994.

During the election campaign for US President Bill Clinton, he sent a message to voters asking for their support and swore to them, saying: “If I am elected president, I will never disappoint Israel”. John Duke, head of the National Council on Arab-American Relations, said about him, “55% of his advisors are Jews, and the first advisors in the White House were Australian-Israelis”. During his presidency, he was close to the Jews, to the point that the National Security Council had seven of them. The Jews included eleven members, in addition to other positions allocated to the Jews. As for George Bush Jr, he – as analysts wrote about him – has a Christian-Zionist culture from which his actions and statements emerge. He made numerous statements indicating this, including – for example – that during the presidential election campaign, in which Vice President Al Gore and Texas Governor George Bush were competing, the two candidates appeared in a debate on a television program on 10/11/2000, and one of the questions they were asked, regarding foreign policy, was a question about their position on the Middle East conflict. Al-Gore stated, “Syria must release the three Israeli prisoners, Arafat must issue orders to stop the violence, and Iraq remains a threat.” He added, “Israel must feel secure at all times. Our relationship with Israel is one of the two countries’ strongest ties. Our relationship with Israel is contractual and deep, and it is not transitory and changes in response to changing situations”. George Bush Jr said, “Israel will always be our ally, and we will always stand by Israel,” George Bush stated. Arafat must issue orders to put an end to the violence”. Then, he declared that if he won, he would begin to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, and he would not send the American military to any war unless America’s essential interests were jeopardised. President Jimmy Carter, who belonged to the Evangelical Zionist Christian Sect, declared in 1976 that his slogan was “belief in the doctrine of being born again.” In March 1979, he told the Israeli Knesset, “Seven American presidents believed, and embodied this belief, that the United States of America’s relationship with Israel is more than a special relationship, but rather a unique relationship because the idea that Israel and the United States of America were founded by pioneer immigrants and that we share the Torah’s legacy is ingrained in the conscience, morals, religion, and beliefs of the American people themselves. Brzezinski, his national security advisor, affirmed that American-Israeli relations are personal and rooted in history, both historical and spiritual. Many newspapers referred to 1976 as “the year of fundamentalist evangelicals,” and it began with strong, supportive political and popular enthusiasm for the sake of Christian Zionism. It is worth mentioning that in his election statement, President Carter stated that “the establishment of modern Israel is the fulfilment of Biblical prophecy”. The fervent Zionist, Billy Graham, said about him, “The president goes to church every Sunday, and he and his wife read passages from the Torah before going to sleep, and he does not drink alcohol in the white house.”

During his presidency from 1976 to 1980, he accomplished much for the benefit of the Jews in Palestine and the Zionist organisation in general, and his stances were founded on a theological belief in the Jewish state and a commitment to protect and support it forever. His accomplishments in the interests of the Jewish state were numerous, the most significant of which were the Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel in 1978, and his provision of military and economic aid to Israel, more than any previous American president. During his presidency, Israel received $10 billion in aid, and he was the first American president to establish a presidential commission in 1978 on the subject of the “Holocaust,” or the burning of Jews during the Nazi era, as well as the first American president to push for an American anti-boycott law to deal with Arab countries’ boycott of Israel in 1977. He declared that anyone who accused Jews of murdering Christ was guilty of “anti-Semitism.” The director of religious affairs at the Zionist organisation known as the “American Jewish Committee” then stated, “For the first time in American presidential history, an American president issued a direct announcement about an unfair issue against Jews with traditional historical religious roots.” [Footnote a]

Since 1980, the alliance between the Christian Right and the New Right has emerged as the most powerful force on the American political scene, as the Christian Right entered the Republican Party and allied with the political right. This relationship, which established an active political Zionist movement for the American presidency, was intensified and became visible following Ronald Reagan’s nomination for the American presidency in 1980. In a statement he delivered at a clergy meeting following his nomination conference, he declared his support for the beliefs and ethics of the Christian right. Consequently, the Moral Majority Organisation was established “With intense activities in favour of Reagan’s candidacy. This Zionist organisation, which symbolises the core of the Christian Right, mobilised three million voters in the presidential and legislative elections, and thus the Christian Right became an influential force in Reagan’s victory”. Since the Christian Right had grown to be a powerful force in the Senate and House of Representatives, several members of the Zionist and Christian right ascended to prominent political roles.

Reagan was an avid Zionist in the service of international Zionism, and he was greatly affected by his mother, who believed in salvation and read the Bible frequently. Her kid son grew up going to churches and was raised on the Bible, which he learned at Sunday schools, as Reagan used to say. Similarly, he would sit with his Dispensational Zionist pals, particularly the fanatical Billy Graham, with whom he would frequently discuss the theory of the second coming of Christ and salvation, as well as other Christian Zionist principles. During Reagan’s campaign for a second term as governor of California in 1970, the Zionist Reverend George Otis paid him a visit and they discussed – with those present – the biblical prophecies and the possibility of their fulfilment for America during Reagan’s presidency, which Otis had prophesied to him. Either way, Reagan visited and engaged with Christian Zionists on a regular basis until he embraced the principles of Christian Zionism and worked for them. Rather, he frequently used those concepts as evidence with Old Testament texts, predicting the Battle of Armageddon and the Second Coming of Christ during his administration, or its close appearance. In an interview with the Zionist pastor Jerry Falwell in 1981, he stated that President Reagan informed him that “the destruction of the world could happen soon. He asserted that Russia was Gog and Magog and that it would be the one that would invade Israel, then the nuclear battle of Armageddon would occur”. He addressed the United Nations three times (1982, 1983, and 1984). Religious broadcasters confirmed his conviction about the nearness of Armageddon and the second coming of Christ according to the Lord’s will, as described in Bible predictions, he said. He predicted in 1986 that the Land of Israel would be besieged by armies of infidel nations, with Libya among them, and that Armageddon was not far away. [Footnote b] [End of quote]

When the United States held presidential elections following Eisenhower’s presidency in 1960, one of the candidates was the Catholic John F. Kennedy. The Christian Zionists became angry at the possibility of his victory, and the fanatical Zionist supporter Billy Graham sent a letter to Richard Nixon, the Vice President, warning against the Catholics nominating the Catholic Democrat, and suggesting that the Republican Party nominate a popular Protestant figure for the presidency, namely Waltergood, a member of Congress, who worked as a missionary in China before entering Congress, especially since he was one who shared Nixon’s hostility to communism. When Catholic candidate John F. Kennedy saw that the Protestants were abandoning him, he declared in his program that he was committed to the separation of church and state, opposed government funding for religious schools, and would not send an American diplomatic mission to the Vatican. This drew Protestants and liberal Jews to his side. However, at a conference in Washington in 1960, the National Union of Evangelicals, the Christian Zionists, led a campaign against Kennedy, emphasising that Kennedy’s nomination “represents a dangerous interference by the Vatican in American politics” and that if he wins the presidency, he will become a “puppet” of the Catholic Church. He did, however, start to emphasise the need to safeguard, defend, and assist Israel. He said, “America has made explicit commitments to protect Israel, and it is in our interest, as Americans, to implement what we have committed to”. He stated before the Zionist Organisation of America, after speaking about the founding of the State of Israel, “It was not born to disappear; Truman was the first to recognize Israel, and I will continue on this route.” Then he reiterated on several occasions that “the Lord Jehovah” is the one who protects and secures the United States of America. Following that, Kennedy was elected President of the United States of America from 1960 to 1963, and immediately after taking office, he worked to allay the fears of Protestants, so he and a number of his White House aides attended the annual breakfast prayer with the Evangelical Protestants in greater numbers than former President Eisenhower, and before his trip to Latin America in 1962, he invited the Protestant pastor, Billy Graham, to the White House, and told him, “I will be your Apostle John”, he joked.

In 1962, the Evangelical Protestants launched the first voting project for the Christian Right, under the name “The Christian Citizen,” with the goal of training Evangelical Christian Zionists in electoral campaigns, and they were able to recruit two thousand members of an organisation to study electoral commissions in 17 American states. In 1963, the Christian Zionist Lyndon B. Johnson assumed the presidency of the United States, and during his reign, America became embroiled in the Vietnam quagmire, and the focus returned to Anti-communism. Johnson often said that his Christian religion was derived from the Jewish religion, therefore, it cannot be separated from them. One of the key reasons for Johnson’s great support for the Jewish state of “Israel” was his Christian faith in God’s plan and control over the entire existence and humanity. He articulated these views numerous times in a period of seven years. In a book titled “My Brother Lyndon,” released in 1970, his brother, Sam Houston Johnson, stated, “Lyndon’s aunt was always giving him religious advice.” In a letter to Sam, the aunt once said, “I want you to tell Lyndon something more about me. Inform him that since Jews are God’s chosen people, you should always stand by them and never do anything to harm them. You should never doubt what the Bible itself says about it, as you are aware. Establishing the state was the greatest accomplishment of Harry Truman’s life. When Israel embarked on that work, it guaranteed certain success next elections”.

As for Richard Nixon, he was one of the deepest in his thoughts and theorists of Zionism among American politicians, and he was an evangelical Zionist. He used to say, “I gave the order to begin a massive airlift of supplies and equipment during the 1973 war, which allowed Israel to halt Syria’s and Egypt’s assault on two fronts. Our commitment to the survival of Israel is a deep commitment. We are not official allies, but something binds us together stronger than any piece of paper. It is a moral commitment. It is a commitment that no president in the past has ever broken, and every president in the future will faithfully fulfill. America will never allow Israel’s enemies to harm it by achieving their goal of destroying it”.

Many social and political developments have occurred, resulting in a watershed moment in the formation of the Christian right. The civil rights movement and the Vietnam War created a schism in American society, as well as a deeper schism among Christian Zionism and its trends. The liberals focused on sit-ins and other forms of protest, whilst the conservatives focused on religious influence on individual conscience. Overall, these social developments in America resulted in a Christian Protestant renaissance in response to societal issues such as women’s equality with men, sexual freedom, abortion rights, homosexuality, and so on. As a result, in the face of political and social transformations, the “Christian Right” turned to political activity more than ever before, resulting in its ascent as a powerful phenomenon to political influence in the 1970s and beyond.
